NEW CHITOSE AIRPORT · FOOD & SHOPPING

New Chitose Airport Food, Cafes, Sweets & Souvenirs

Don't plan airport food and souvenir shopping from a list of famous brands alone. The important questions are whether you are arriving or departing, which terminal you use, and whether a shop is before or after security.

1. Decide when to eat and shop

Just arrived? Check the time of your onward bus, train or rental-car pickup first. A long meal can make a tight transfer stressful. If your schedule allows it, browse the airport's official restaurant directory by food type and location.

Flying out? Confirm your check-in and security timing before shopping. A store listed as "after domestic security" is not automatically accessible on an international departure itinerary. Domestic and international terminal locations matter.

2. Finding a meal or cafe

The airport's official dining directory lets you look for ramen, seafood, Japanese meals, cafes and snacks. Use its location and opening-time filters instead of assuming every venue will be open when your flight arrives.

Short connection: choose a nearby option with enough time for the queue and the next part of your journey. More time: compare a sit-down meal with a cafe or takeaway, then check the current store page.

3. Souvenir examples before domestic security

Hokkaido Bussan: an official airport listing places this general gift shop on the second floor of the domestic terminal, before domestic security. It carries Hokkaido sweets and other local products. Check its listing for current hours and delivery details.

ANA FESTA lobby shop: another second-floor, pre-security option. Its official listing includes familiar Hokkaido gifts such as Shiroi Koibito, Jaga Pokkuru, Marusei Butter Sandwiches and Royce's Nama Chocolate.

Takeaway meal: Kitanomikaku Suzuhana is listed before domestic security and offers seafood-based airport boxed meals. If buying food for later, ask about safe storage and how soon it should be eaten.

4. Shopping after domestic security

JAL PLAZA center gate shop: the official airport listing places it on the second floor after domestic security, near Gate 10, with sweets and other gifts.

1st HOKKAIDO: the airport's own sweets brand also has a second-floor location after domestic security, according to the official listing. It is a different option from the shops you can browse before screening.

6. Fit airport shopping into the rest of your Hokkaido trip

Going straight to Niseko? Work backward from your bus, train or rental pickup time. If you're renting, review winter-driving preparation before adding a long food stop to an already full arrival day.
